Cash drawer - Drawer does not open when paying cash

Problem :

The cash drawer does not open when a customer pays in cash.


Checking steps to be carried out :


1. Check that the printer is switched on and printing tickets

  • The cash drawer only works when the printer is operational.
  • Make sure that :
    • The printer is switched on
    • It prints tickets correctly
  • If this is not the case, please refer to the article dedicated to printer problems.


2. Check the connection between the till and the printer

  • Confirm that the till is correctly connected to the printer via USB cable or network, depending on your configuration.
  • Incorrect connection may prevent the signal that triggers opening from being sent.


3. Check the cash drawer cable

  • The cash drawer is connected directly to the printer (not to the till itself).
  • Visually inspect the cable:
    • Make sure it's plugged in properly
    • Check that it is not bent, twisted or damaged
