Hierarchy is the first level of classification for an article.
Also known as a ‘family’, this allows you to group together items of the same type in order to obtain sales statistics for all the items included in the group.
Tip: If you specify a VAT rate in the hierarchy, it will automatically be applied to the item, which is handy!
It is strongly recommended to always assign a hierarchy to an article!
Here we explain how you can easily adapt the hierarchy of an item from the checkout 😉
Modify the hierarchy (family) of an item from the cash register
Hello, everyone!
Today, we will see how to modify the hierarchy of an item directly from your cash register.
Objective
Change the family (or category) of an item so that it is correctly classified in your matrices and statistics.
Steps to follow
- Go to Settings → Articles.
- Search for and select the relevant item (e.g. still water).
- Click on it to open its configuration sheet.
- Locate the Hierarchy field and click on it.
- Select the desired new hierarchy (e.g., Non-alcoholic beverages).
- Click Save to confirm the change.
Good to know
- A well-configured hierarchy facilitates access to items at the checkout and optimises your sales reports.
- Remember to synchronise your matrix if you want the article button to appear in the new category.
